Removal of public memorials - Area Z development works

This scheme requires the removal of some public and private memorials and the extinguishing of burial rights in private graves. In accordance with current legislation, notices have been displayed in the cemetery to alert any relatives or visitors. All removed memorials will be kept in safe storage for at least twelve months, during which time relatives will have the opportunity to reclaim them. No graves will be affected/disturbed during any works.

London Borough of Southwark hereby gives notice that it intends to extinguish the interment rights in respect of the following private graves and notice is also hereby given that, under Articles 16(1), 16(2) and Schedule 3 of the Local Authorities’ Cemeteries Order 1977 (“the Order”), the memorials on the private graves and the public graves listed below will be removed from the cemetery to facilitate the new development on Area Z in Camberwell Old Cemetery
