Suspension of parking bays

A suspension of a parking bay can be used:

  • to reserve space for a removal van or skip delivery
  • for the purpose of loading / unloading
  • for building works / delivery of materials
  • for weddings and funerals

We require at least ten working days notice for a suspension request. The only exception to this rule is when emergency work needs to be carried out (ie gas, water repairs).

Payment must be received seven days prior to the suspension start date. The Council provide five working days notice to residents, business owners and other bay users by displaying yellow suspension signs.

If you need more information or would like to suspend a parking bay, contact parking services by email or call 0800 138 9081.

Parking suspension charges

Parking place suspensions are charged at £28 per day, per one car space. A one off £55 admin fee is also charged regardless of the number of days requested for suspension.

Do not park in a suspended bay

When parking bays are suspended, a warning notice is usually placed on the nearest parking sign.

Motorists should always check that a bay is in operation before parking.

If you need to leave your car for a number of days, you should regularly check to make sure the space has not been suspended.
