We are replacing temporary planters in Walworth and transforming the spaces into pocket parks (small parks) that will:
- encourage young people to go outside and play
- provide a place to socialise, help build stronger communities and enhance mental wellbeing
- help create safe walking and cycling routes across Walworth
- make our streets greener and more resilient to extreme weather
Construction is now completed
- RSA 3 conducted
- snagging work to proceed

Phase 2
Phase 2 developments include:
Construction work starts 6th May to 11th June 2025
Iliffe Street, junction with Penton Place
Iliffe Street proposals are:
- removing the planters and installing level paving for a flat walking surface
- 2 new tree planting for shade and to enhance the local environment
- seating to help people relax and share the space – or for parents waiting for their children
- additional cycle parking
Merrow Street proposals on hold:
- widening pavements to shorten crossing distances
- crossing points on all four arms of the junction
- changing priority from Merrow Street to Lytham Street, to slow vehicles down and draw drivers' attention to the restriction on Merrow Street
- extra cycle parking
Phase 3
Consultation closing on 8th of May 2025
Cooks Road, junction with Fleming Street.
The Cooks Road proposal is:
- Wider pavements on both sides of Cooks Road with a shorter crossing point.
- Two parking bays removed at each junction - on Otto Street and Fleming Road - to improve pedestrian sightlines at the junctions.
- Pavement resurfacing and attractive new pathway design.
- New tree planted at the junction
- New single seats in the area by Fleming Road
- Play features - marble games for children
