On-the-spot £500 fixed penalty notice fines for littering

Fixed penalty notice littering fines

Tackling littering and fly-tipping is a priority for the council, in order to make Southwark cleaner, greener and safer for everyone.

To help us achieve this, the Council has recently expanded our team of Environmental Enforcement Officers (EEOs)  and are working in partnership with APCOA.

These officers work on the streets of the borough and are able to issue an on-the-spot Fixed Penalty Notice fines to those caught littering. The fine for littering will be £500, reduced to £200 if paid within 14 days of issue.

From July, EEOs will be proactively patrolling the borough, initially focusing on the areas that we know are worst hit by littering and environmental crime.

Litter makes our borough look unsightly, can take years to degrade, is expensive to clean up, and can be harmful to wildlife and habitats.
