
A statement in response to the death of Yeray Sanchez-Morales, following a stabbing in Old Kent Road at 10.47pm on Wednesday 27 August. Police have charged a 15-year-old boy with murder.
Cllr Natasha Ennin, Southwark Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety & Neighbourhoods, said:
“The death of someone so young is a loss that no parent or family should ever have to face. Our thoughts are with all of Yeray’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“This is a tragedy that will be felt right across our community. These senseless acts of violence must end.
“There will be people who know, or suspect that they know, what happened. Please come forward if you can help.
“Everyone has a role to play in fighting and reducing crime and bringing those responsible to justice.
“People in the local area where this attack took place have seen an increased presence from Southwark Council officers as well as those from the Metropolitan Police.”
