A statement in response to the death of Michael John Edwards, 43, following a reported assault on Borough High Street around 2.55am on Saturday 13 September. Police have charged a 26-year-old man and the matter has been referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Cllr Natasha Ennin, Southwark Council's Cabinet Member for Community Safety & Neighbourhoods, said:
"I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of Michael Edwards and my thoughts are with his family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
"This was a tragic incident and we're working to help the police in their investigation, and ensure support for anyone affected."
