Southwark Council has welcomed residents to their new council homes on Salisbury Estate in Walworth.

The new homes were built on an old car park on Salisbury Estate, providing 26 brand new council homes and a landscaped garden area for all residents of the estate.

Miss Lopez, a new resident of Salisbury Estate who lives with her disabled son, said: “I’m really pleased with my new home. My favourite thing is the space, it’s made such a difference to us and to our lives.

"All my stress has gone, we feel relaxed, my son is doing better and we are very happy here.”

Cllr Helen Dennis, Cabinet Member for New Homes and Sustainable Development, said: “We’re building much-needed council homes across Southwark, with more than 3,000 council homes completed or under construction.

“It’s really exciting to see residents moving into these fantastic new homes which are brilliantly designed, spacious, and with beautifully landscaped outside areas.

"One of Southwark Council’s main priorities is building more council homes, and the Salisbury Estate development is one many new council homes sites across the borough."

The council has started construction or built over 3,000 new council homes across the borough.
