Residents have moved into brand new council homes in Camberwell as Southwark Council completed a block of 13 new council flats.
The development provides a mix of one, two and three-bedroom flats all with good-sized balconies. Landscaping, bike and bin stores were also provided as part of the development.
This new council block is one of many Southwark Council have built all over the borough, with 3,000 council homes completed or under construction on site.
As part of its commitment to being a good landlord, Southwark Council is building new council homes to tackle the housing crisis locally and provide decent homes.
Cllr Helen Dennis, Cabinet Member for New Homes and Sustainable Development, said:
“I’m thrilled to celebrate the completion of more much-needed council homes for local people. These are among the 3,000 council homes we’ve built or have under construction on site in Southwark.
“Like all our new council homes, these flats are of the highest quality, spacious and light, with plenty of homes available for families.
“With 50% of the new homes here being allocated to local people in the immediate area, we are pleased that these homes are directly supporting the local community and ensuring people can stay near their friends and family when they move to a new home."
