Coronavirus in the UK: tips for staying healthy
12 February 2020
There is currently no widespread person-to-person spread of the virus in the UK. However, you can still play a part in reducing risk of transmission, both for Coronavirus, and other infections such as flu.
The best advice for the public to reduce their risk is to:
- always carry tissues and use them to catch a cough or sneeze; then bin the tissue, and wash hands or use a sanitiser gel
- wash hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport; use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
- avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- avoid close contact with people who are unwell
As you may have heard, as of the 11 February, 1,358 patients have been tested for Coronavirus and eight patients found to be positive in England.
The council and CCG are putting plans in place to ensure we are well-prepared if anyone tests positive in London or Southwark.
