Barbecue use suspended in Burgess Park following London-wide advice from fire brigade

27 July 2018

London Fire Brigade has issued advice to all London councils to temporarily ban barbequing in parks and green spaces.

Cllr Rebecca Lury Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Equalities and Communities said: “Like many other London boroughs we will also be heeding London Fire Brigade’s warning to suspend the use of barbecues in public parks due to the current high risk of fire.

“Burgess Park is the only park in the borough where barbecuing is allowed and these facilities will be temporarily suspended with immediate effect.

“I would urge visitors to take note of the advice LFB have given and refrain from using barbecues in any parks or green spaces in the borough. We want everyone to enjoy the wonderful weather we are having and there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the sun safely in one of the many parks around the borough.”
