Camberwell Green celebrates brand new Green Flag

Camberwell’s beautifully renovated Green saw the ceremonial raising of its brand new Green Flag on 24 October.

Cllr Barrie Hargrove, Cabinet Member for Communities, Safety and Leisure, was joined by Barbara Pattinson, the Chair of the SE5 Forum for Camberwell, park staff and local people to celebrate.

The Green’s new Green Flag is testimony to the hard work of the council parks team, the Friends of Camberwell Green and the SE5 Forum. Their efforts have secured this beautiful open space for local people to admire, relax in and enjoy for years to come.

Cllr Barrie Hargrove said: “I am really pleased that 2017 saw Camberwell Green win a treasured Green Flag. The gold standard for outstanding open spaces is a fitting award that reflects all the hard work and local investment that has gone into restoring the Green, to reflect the latest standards of urban design and maintaining it as a beautiful open space for everyone to enjoy.”
