Publishing our collections

Using copies of our documents in another work or putting them online usually meets the legal definition of “publishing”. Many of the documents in our collections are not in Southwark Council’s copyright. Please contact Southwark Archives via post or email if you are interested in publishing documents from our collection, so that we can give advice.

Copies or photographs you make in the searchroom are for your own non-commercial research only. Publishing them is a breach of copyright law. We can provide copies for publication as long as you have permission from the copyright holder(s) for any in-copyright documents. You are responsible for tracing and getting permission to publish from third-party copyright holders. Southwark Archives charges a reproduction fee for providing documents for publication.
