TCS Mini London Marathon - Team Southwark

The TSC Mini London Marathon is the official British Road Championship for young athletes aged between 11 and 17 years.

Unlike previous years, the 2022 event will now take place the day before the TCS London Marathon on Saturday 1 October and the route will be 2.6km

Children and young people taking part will be the first people to cross the world-famous TCS London Marathon Finish Line this year.

Who can apply?

Please note: eligibility for each age category in the 2022 event is based on the participant’s age on 31 August 2022.

The age groups for the 2022 TCS Mini Marathon championships are:

  • under 13 boys and girls (must be aged 11 or 12 on 31 August 2022)
  • under 15 boys and girls (must be aged 13 or 14 on 31 August 2022)
  • under 17 boys and girls (must be aged 15 or 16 on 31 August 2022)

Each London borough can have a maximum of 6 boys and 6 girls in each age group.

How to enter and run for Southwark

The team to represent Southwark will be chosen based on the quickest times for a 5km parkrun. In order to represent Southwark, you need to have been either born, live or go to school in the borough and be between 11-17 years of age.

To submit your interest in being part of Team Southwark, you need to follow the steps below.

Step 1

Register and submit your best time (on the form below) from a completed 5K parkrun for under 15-17 age groups or a junior parkrun for those under 13 runners between 4 September 2021 and 10 September 2022 at any of the venues below.

Please note the terms and conditions of Park Run state that children under the age of 11 years are the responsibility of their parents/guardians and need to be accompanied at all times before, during, and after the run.

Register to complete a parkfun at www.parkrun.org.uk/register no later than 6pm the Friday before you want to run

Please note: a parkrun is not a race, and all participants must follow the parkrun code of conduct.

Step 2

All submitted forms will be assessed and verified (on the parkrun website) once the deadline has passed. Selection letters will then be sent out via email. We will select 6 in each category with 3 reserves.

If you're interested in representing Team Southwark, submit a completed entry form with your best time for a Parkrun by 9am on Monday 12 September 2022. We will contact you to confirm if you've been selected or not and to provide further information for those selected.

Mini London Wheelchair and Ambulant/ Para Marathon

There are events for young wheelchair athletes and athletes with physical or sensory impairment. If you'd like to enter the Virgin Money Giving Wheelchair or Ambulant/Para Mini Marathon, you will need to apply to the organisers directly.
