Free support for young people

  • Southwark Choices - careers, information and guidance service for young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 for residents with learning difficulties or disabilities)
  • Southwark Information Advice and Support team (SIAS) - this team manage the Local Offer which provides information and guidance to support families and young people aged up to 25 with learning difficulties or disabilities
  • 'Your Path' delivered by St Giles Trust - one-to-one support to boost skills, increase employment prospects, explore career options, access training and education courses for those aged 16-25
  • 'GROW' delivered by St Giles Trust - support for young people who are still in education or have other responsibilities (such as caring) into 'part time work'
  • Business Launchpad - business counselling and workshops to young entrepreneurs aged 16-30
  • Princes Trust - help for young people aged 16-30 to build confidence, access training, get a job or start a business
  • Construction Youth Trust - supporting young people to discover careers in the construction and built environment sector
  • Barclays Life Skills - provides free training and support to help young people prepare for the jobs market

If you're interested in going to university but worried about the costs, the Southwark Scholarship scheme is available to students who meet the following criteria:

  • this must be your first degree (current university students are not eligible)
  • you must be under 25 years old
  • you must have a good academic record of achievement
  • you must have made a positive contribution to the community of Southwark
  • you must have been a resident in Southwark for the last three years
  • you must have a household income of less than £25,000
