Southwark Choices

Southwark Choices

The Southwark Choices team offer independent information, advice and guidance to young people in Southwark. We want to ensure that all 16 to 18 year olds in Southwark are aware of the choices and opportunities open to them to enable them to achieve sustained economic independence in adulthood.

What are you doing now

Southwark choices are required by the Department for Education to verify that all 16 and 17 year olds who live in Southwark are in education or training and offer support to those who are not participating.

Below is a link to a simple form, please can you complete the information in the form so that we can update our records.

Raising the Participation Age (RPA)

RPA is a duty placed on all young people by the Education and Skills Act (2008) to participate in education or training until their 18th birthday. Supported by parents/carers and schools, the government expects you to make your own decisions about how you wish to participate.

London has great opportunities for school leavers who want to learn, work or train. You have many options and may need advice or support.

Visit our drop in centre at 132 Queens Road, London, SE15 2HP every Monday and Thursday between 10am and 4pm or call us on 020 7525 4545 to make an appointment.

You can use IT packages to look at career options and their necessary courses / qualifications. We also offer help with application forms, CVs and registering for apprenticeships.

We can help you:

  • learn - if you're unsure what you want to do, we can help you find the right course
  • work - we offer tips to find the right job, where to gain skills and help with applications and interviews
  • train - if you want to work but would like to earn qualifications, we offer apprenticeships as well as traineeships and other training opportunities
