Being an apprentice is a great way to start working in Southwark. We have tremendous success helping apprentices secure employment and we're committed to creating 2,000 new apprenticeships.

Requirements to apply
- age 16 and over (age 18 and over in some cases)
- able to work full time
- full commitment to a 1 year programme
- 5 GCSEs grade A to C including Maths and English or equivalent
Educational qualification requirements will vary depending on the type and level of apprenticeship. Each opportunity will advertise the specific requirements.

Apprenticeship opportunities with Southwark businesses
If we can't offer what you're looking for, there are a variety of other apprenticeships available with local businesses. The Southwark Apprenticeship Standard sets the standard for quality local apprentices. It's based on our over ten years experience running the apprenticeship scheme and sets four key areas that we know are at the heart of any successful apprenticeship:
- secure employment (contract of at least 12 months)
- fair pay (with payment of the London Living Wage as the gold standard)
- quality training provision
- mentoring and support
