Re-engaging with our community services - May 2020

As the impact of COVID-19 became better understood, and the timelines for Safe Steps’ re-involvement with the community app became clearer, we reworked our project plan. In this, the initial design stage was scheduled for June, and so our focus moved to preparing for this.

We reconnected with stakeholders involved in the project, and in particular, with the falls prevention services available across the councils. We updated them on the new project plan, and began discussions about the referral requirements for their services. The enthusiasm for the project from these services was exciting to hear.

We also had input to the Southwark Falls Prevention Strategy steering group, where there was a desire to make the most of the app across the different services. As a digital tool that should allow us to increase the efficiency and accuracy of our falls assessments, it is hoped the app can help us deal with some of the challenges that COVID-19 has highlighted.
