Being active

Being active is really good for your body, mind and health, and there are lots of easy ways you and your family can get moving!

Fitting some physical activity into your day is easier than you think - even 10 minutes at a time is helpful. NHS Choices has a great list of free activities you can do outside and at home, with something for everyone. You can also try out the Couch to 5K app.

Children under 5

3 hours a day

Children & young people aged 5 to 18

1 hour a day


2½ hours a week

Older adults (65+)

2½ hours a week (plus strength exercises)
