Eating disorders

Find out about eating disorders and support in Southwark and nationally for anyone that is affected by them, of any age.

What eating disorders are

An eating disorder is a complex mental illness. They can be a way of coping with feelings or situations that are making the person unhappy, angry, depressed, stressed or anxious. Anyone, no matter what their age, gender, culture or background, can develop one.

If someone has an eating disorder they will have an unhealthy relationship with food. This may be eating too much or too little food. It can be frightening to realise that you or someone you know may have an eating disorder.

If you believe that you need help, talk to your GP or contact the services below.
