Key worker parking permit scheme to end on 31 December 2020

As part of  our response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we introduced free parking for key workers in resident and paid-for bays across the borough. This scheme will end on 31 December 2020.

Key workers have and continue to play a vital role in the pandemic response, in support of all Southwark’s residents.  We are hugely grateful for the many key workers who went above and beyond the call of duty during 2020 and we hope that the free parking arrangements were helpful.

From January 2021, key workers – council staff (including social services), teachers, Police, TfL and Fire Brigade staff – will need to return to the pre-Covid parking arrangements. There are existing staff permit schemes that can be used by social services staff and teachers.

TfL and other transport carriers have introduced very stringent social distancing and cleanliness methods to ensure that users are safe to travel.

NHS and care workers

All NHS staff and health care workers are asked to use the National Government Scheme. Contact the manager of your hospital or department for further details. There is currently no scheme end date provided by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
