If you've been in close contact with someone who's tested positive for COVID-19 you can get a PCR test, whether or not you have symptoms.

When you have a lateral flow test done, we'll ask you for your:

  • name
  • postcode
  • date of birth
  • email address
  • phone number

Your details will be passed to NHS Test and Trace if your test is positive. You'll also need to book PCR test to confirm the positive results of a lateral flow test.

How to prepare for your lateral flow test

Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes before doing the test to reduce the risk of spoiling the test.

If you develop symptoms after booking a lateral flow test

You should only get a lateral flow test if you don’t have symptoms. If you develop symptoms, self-isolate and book an NHS PCR test instead.
