COVID-19 testing privacy policy
Southwark Council is supporting the nationwide rapid mass testing programme for COVID-19 by providing community testing across the borough. Southwark Council, the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the NHS are working in partnership to deliver this programme but act as independent Data Controllers. This privacy notice explains how we use your information.
Why we need your personal data
We need some information about you to book, administer and deliver a test to detect the presence of the virus that causes COVID-19.
We will anonymise the data we collect for equality and monitoring purposes.
What data we collect
We will ask your consent to collect the following information about you:
- first name
- last name
- email address
- phone number
- date of birth
- postcode
- gender (optional)
- ethnicity (optional)
- reason for test (optional)
We do not see your test result as this is processed by DHSC and the NHS. If you have a positive test result you will be contacted by Test and Trace.
How we look after your data
We will process and hold your data securely and only give access to people who are authorised to see it. We will only keep your data for the reasons given above and will delete your information no later than three months from the date of your test.
Who we share your data with
We will only share your information with those involved in booking, administering and delivering the tests or where the law tells us we have to share it.
