"Southern Exposure gave me additional funding to shoot my short film Reparations For The Soul. This film got me my place at The National Film and Television School. This enabled me to shoot more films, intern at Channel 4, receive an M.A. and have access to key contacts, giving me the best preparation for a career in Film and TV."
Matthew Jones and M J McMahon, owners of Capture
"Gin & Dry, funded by the Southern Exposure Film Fund, was the second short film my fledgling production company, Capture ever made. Before we were accepted onto the scheme, funding our short has impossible, and if the scheme hadn't existed then Gin & Dry would not have happened. The Southern Exposure investment also leveraged other money from Working Title Films, the biggest and most successful film production company in the UK.
The existence of Gin & Dry has had an enormously positive effect on our careers and company success, not only has it been accepted into competition at over 18 international film festivals worldwide, it has won the Oscar-recognised Rhode Island Film Festival in the U.S.A.
The film also opened the door to us securing numerous pieces of commercial work, in particular a project for Sky (BskyB) which in turn has lead to bigger and bigger commercial work being secured, and helped set up the future of a young UK film business and in turn employ numerous individuals.
Gin & Dry also received an unprecedented theatrical cinema release across 11 sites via Picturehouse Cinemas."
Jesse Quinones, Woolfcub Productions
"I took part in Southern Exposure in 2009 with our documentary Clean and Jerk. At that time I was in the early stages of my career and Southern Exposure was one of the first organisations to put money behind one of my films. The experience was rewarding and gave me a tremendous boost of confidence. Since then I have made documentaries for Current TV, and have received support from institutions such as National Geographic, Channel 4 and the Commonwealth Broadcast Association and we are currently in production on our first feature film with a cast of Hollywood actors. I believe none of this would have happened had the initial spark not taken place with Southern Exposure."
