Description

Reimagining how archives are built, activated and used, don’t worry i won’t forget you presents the entire West Asian and North African Women's Art Library (WANAWAL) alongside contemporary artworks by seven WANA practitioners: Ayreen Anastas & Rene Gabri, Xece "Khadija Baker", Meriem Bennani, Shamiran Istifan, Olivia Melkonian, and Sara Rahman. The exhibition platforms multiple new works, site specific interventions and responses to the WANAWAL, including a new commission by Shamiran Istifan realised whilst in residence at Forma.

'don't worry i won't forget you' spans moving image, performance, sound and installation and will be accompanied by a curated public programme titled 'echoes in my memory, you will hear them'. Giving space to new collaborations between featured artists and other invited practitioners, the programme expands upon the exhibited artworks and activates the archive format. Featuring: Xece “Khadija Baker”, Azl Collective, Meriem Bennani, Sara Rahman, Lydia Ourahmane and Olivia Melkonian, among others.

An exhibition publication will also accompany the programme, which will include texts by the curators and commissioned essays by Nada Atieg, Rojda Yavuz and Hannah Elsisi.

The exhibition runs from 14 June - 10 August 2024.
