Description

After many years closed, Kingswood House is finally reopening as Kingswood Arts, a brand new community arts centre and creative hub, designed to support its local community through creativity.

On Saturday 8th April we will be opening our doors and grounds to everyone to come and see the new look Kingswood, find out more about our plans for the building and enjoy some easter family fun!

Expect a festival atmosphere with Music, Food & Drink and a bouncy castle for the kids! We are also delighted to say we will have Kingsdale Foundation School’s reigning champion steel pan band playing for us on the day!

We will also be launching our lovely little Cafe at the same time! The cafe will be a community hub for the Kingswood estate, serving hot food & drinks and providing Wifi and computers for free use - come and check it out!

Free Tickets for 8th April

On Sunday 9th April we will be launching our new social history project alongside the Friends of Kingswood House and the Social Change Agency. This will be a deep dive into local history, unveiling the secrets of Kingswood’s fascinating history. We will be conducting free tours at 10, 12 and 2pm! To book please click here.

We have lots of information about the house and its occupants from 1811-1950 but we are also very keen to invite any local people who have stories from the Kingswood Estate over the last 70 years since the building was taken over by Southwark Council. If you or someone you know was married there, attended wakes, birthdays or christenings or if you used the building as a library or youth centre, we would love to hear from you and see any photos or videos of those events!

Throughout the rest of 2023 we will be building a historic exhibition for the house which will include stories from 1811 to present day!
