Event Details

The talk not only explores the evolution of Tomlin’s signature style, flyer culture and it’s role in the rave scene, but also the visual language of sci-fi, afrofuturism and fantasy at the advent of the digital age.

This event runs alongside our free archive exhibition Shut the Club Down on at the Fire Station Gallery until 5 June 2022.

Junior Tomlin has been an illustrator and graphic artist for over 35 years, working for comics, record labels, live events and film. During the 90s he designed record covers for Renegade Soundwave and many flyers for raves. His first book Junior Tomlin: Flyer & Cover Art was published by Velocity Press in 2020. His colouring credits include Marvel, Panini, Titian, 2000AD and DC Comics.

Born and raised in Ladbroke Grove, west London, Tomlin did a foundation course at Byam Shaw School of Art before going to study Graphic Design at Goldsmiths College in 1981.
