Desmond Felix discusses how he has negotiated academic life as a black man in History where ethnic minority people are severely underrepresented. He will discuss memory and how sporting memories provide a backdrop to our social experiences.

Desmond Felix is currently a doctoral candidate in History at Goldsmiths, University of London.

As a graduate in History and Politics from Goldsmiths and a member of the Royal Historical Society, his research interests lie in British sporting and cultural history, ethnicity, and identity.

He is also a speaker for History Matters conference 2021, with his talk entitled 'Three Lions in the Ring: Benn, Eubank, Watson: Managing social identities in British'
