DescriptionJoin us on Saturday 14th of August 2021 from 12pm to 6pm in Southwark Park (entrance via Jamaica Rd). The event is free and everyone is welcome.
Our music programme on the iconic bandstand is headlined by Indika band, led by Bermondsey’s own Phillip Poleon. The band have played with a host of legendary Reggae artists, most notably being the backing band for Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. Now they have teamed up with Winston Reedy, who was crowned as Britain’s Best Reggae Singer 3 years-in-a-row when he went solo after leaving the Cimarons.
Locally based Redriffe provide main support with classic hits songs from the History of British Rock, featuring songs from the likes of Bad Company, Beatles, Bowie, Free, Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones and The Who.
Vocalist Stephen Pierre, founder of the grassroots community organisation Unity Music Arts Team, leads our next music act. Featuring student and graduate musicians from leading London music conservatoires, they are showcasing a repertoire of music from many diverse genres.
While listening to the fantastic music played throughout the day, visitors to the Bermondsey Bitesize 2021 can visit the traditional funfair, have something to eat at the food stalls and enjoy the free family activities.
Southwark Council supports Bermondsey Bitesize with additional sponsorship from Blue Bermondsey BID; the bandstand music programme is sponsored by Grosvenor, developers of the former Peek & Freans factory.
Bermondsey Bitesize has been produced to reflect the current situation and safety concerns. Appropriate measures will be in place with full regard to public safety in consideration of the on-going regulations and concerns of Covid 19.
Blue Bermondsey BID chair Jack Shah said “We are delighted that as representatives of local business we are able to support this longstanding local treasure to celebrate our community and togetherness”.
