Starting with a fun and relaxed art class painting a still life of food and other items sourced from Rye Lane. Then there will be a cooking lesson using some of the produce from the still life to make a nutritious and cheap meal.

Aimed at beginners or those with not much experience, local artist Mark Pearson will teach the art class giving encouragement and guidance. The subject will be a large still life with fruit, vegetables and other items all bought in Rye Lane, to support the local traders. After the art class, Sarah Pollard from Bags of Taste Southwark will give a cookery lesson using some of the food from the still life. The menu will reflect the cultural heritage within the community and demonstrate how to eat well on a limited budget. Everyone will receive a bag of ingredients to take away to make the meal at home.
