Join former Youth and Schools Worker Judy Cumberbatch and former Publishing Worker Richard Gray for a conversational walk. The tour departs from the Fire Station Archive, and will focus on the histories of The Bookplace, a community bookshop that operated at 13 Peckham High Street between 1977 and the mid-1990s, and the related Peckham Publishing Project and the Peckham Literacy Centre. Cumberbatch and Gray share their own experiences of the projects’ histories, approaches and legacies. This tour is part of the ongoing SLG Heritage Tours programme. The exhibition Back to the Bookplace in collaboration with Southwark Archives is on display at SLG Fire Station until 18 Aug.

By Train:The nearest overground station to the South London Gallery is Peckham Rye (ten minute walk from the gallery)
The nearest station with step-free access is Denmark Hill. It is a 20 minute walk from the gallery or you can take the 40 bus from outside the station to Camberwell Green stop and then take the 36, 171 or 436 from Camberwell Church St/Camberwell Green stop to Peckham Road/Southampton Way stop.
