Healthy meal for £1 per head cooking challenge
We'd like to challenge our Peckham and Nunhead residents to cook a meal to this recipe (pdf, 143kb) for less than a fiver. Once you’ve finished cooking the meal take a photo and email it in along with some comments on the taste, portion size, easiness and ingredient availability etc.
Eating delicious food doesn’t mean having to use the most expensive ingredients or cooking for hours on end. A great Cottage Pie, Vegetarian Chili or Fish Curry can all cost under £1 a head and taste as good as a meal costing bags of cash!'
At our Community Council meeting held in January, we were presented with the 'Mee Goreng' recipe by 'Bags of Taste' to recreate at home for less than the sum of £5. You also will recall that we were all invited to post a photograph of the dish with comments on the community council website and Facebook too.
The objective is of course to enthuse and encourage the community at large to become more creative with their dietary choices and in the process save money too!
Bags of taste will return next Monday with a new recipe to share and circulate. So, I'd be really grateful if you could all give it go and share your comments at next weeks meeting.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Members of the Community Council
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Southwark Conversation.
Late last year, 3,000 people took part in Southwark Council’s most far-reaching consultation, asking you, our residents, how you feel about change in our borough.
Through the conversations we learned a huge amount about what matters to you, and we will use that to inform our council plans and priorities, following detailed analysis over the coming months.
As promised, we've now published an initial report, setting out the key themes that you told us were important to you. You can download the report here.
