The Southwark Archives film collection has over 250 tiles dating from 1899 to the present day. It includes titles that originated in film, video and digital formats.
The collection is hosted on London's Screen Archives website.

How to watch films from the collection
You can watch:
- many of our films at London's Screen Archive website
- any film that is listed on London's Screen Archives website, but is unavailable to view, by making an appointment with Southwark Archives by email
- a small selection of our films on the Southwark Heritage YouTube channel
Films are not available for general loan but we welcome loan requests for community and council events (some restrictions do apply).
More about the collection
The collection reflects the history of the borough and contains:
- films commissioned by Southwark Council and its former metropolitan councils
- personal films
- community films
- off-air public broadcasts
Among the collection are films from:
- Bermondsey Borough Council
- Brandon Estate Cine Club
- Community TV Trust
We regularly add films to the collection that are significant to the borough and we welcome donations.
