Pension fund

Southwark Council's pension fund had net assets of £1.58 billion as of 31 March 2020.

The pension fund annual report 2019 to 2020 provides information on how the fund is administered and invested to provide benefits for retired members and information on the fund's governance arrangements.

The investment strategy for the fund is outlined in the Southwark pension fund investment strategy statement (PDF, 253kb).

This document also sets out the fund approach to taking account of environmental, social and governance considerations in the investment of fund assets.

The Local Pension Board (LPB) has an oversight role in assisting the council as the administering authority to secure compliance with the LGPS legislation and other relevant regulations and to ensure the efficient and effective governance of the pension scheme.
