Southwark’s Brexit Risk Register
Find information on our approach to managing the impact of Brexit on the borough.
The government was responsible for leading the withdrawal process of the UK from the EU, and remains responsible for mitigating any potential national risks, such as disruption to food and medical supplies. Our primary responsibility is continuing to provide local services, and manage disruption to residents, businesses and the borough as a whole. In order to do this, we need to remain alert to the impact of different scenarios and, where possible, put measures in place to mitigate any impact.
A Brexit Risk Register was published (PDF, 218kb), setting out our broad areas of concern and the actions we would take to manage these.
Once Brexit became a reality and we entered the transition period, it was appropriate to consider how our approach to managing the impact of Brexit should evolve, to better take into account the opportunities and challenges presented by our emerging new relationship with the EU. This focus was sharpened as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the local economy, including on our residents, businesses and on the council itself. As a result,
