Violence Against Women and Girls - 16 days of action events
16 Days of Action Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign to end violence against women and girls. This starts on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on 10 December, Human Rights Day. We highlight this campaign by hosting and supporting a programme of events and seminars.
On the 25 November we launch our campaign tackling male violence against women and girls. We’re asking men and boys to think about their behaviour (or friend’s behaviour) towards women and girls, and be an ally to them. The video shows men and boys day-to-day sexual harassment ‘through a girl’s eyes’. You can watch the video, and share it on social media, as well and find information and support services.
Throughout the 16 day period we will be running a number of events highlighting the many forms of violence against women and girls, and consider ways in which we can work together towards a future where this abuse and violence is no longer tolerated. To find out more about the events and how we're tackling violence against women and girls in Southwark, visit our information stall on Thursday 1 December from 11am to 2pm at 160 Tooley Street, or email CommunitySafety@southwark.gov.uk
