Mayor’s Good Work Standard

Southwark Council is proud to be one of the first local authorities signed up to the Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard (GWS).

The Mayor’s Good Work Standard sets the benchmark for the highest level of employment standards. It helps employers to improve their organisations and contribute to a fairer and more inclusive London economy.

The Standard has been developed in collaboration with London employers, professional bodies and experts and was launched by the Mayor of London in July 2019. It's organised into four key pillars that are relevant and important to any organisation or employer:

  • fair pay and conditions
  • workplace wellbeing
  • skills and progression
  • diversity and recruitment

We want to encourage Southwark businesses to become accredited to the Good Work Standard, in order to recognise and celebrate all of the great employers that we have in the borough and promote all of the good work that they're doing.
