Illegal street trading

'Fly traders' or people selling goods on the streets without a licence create obstructions for pedestrians and are unfair competition to legitimate traders and businesses

This illegal activity ranges from sellers of counterfeit DVDs to sellers of roasted peanuts.

You shouldn't buy from these unlicensed traders as:

  • they almost always sell illegal goods of dubious quality
  • they don't offer refunds - you won't get your money back on a faulty item
  • if they're selling food, there's no way of knowing if it's safe to eat
Illegal street traders aren't tolerated and if caught, risk prosecution, a fine of £1000 and loss of all their goods

If you'd like to become a trader at our markets, you can get involved by registering as a market trader online.
