Registering a food business

How to register your business

You can register your food business using our online form.

You must sign the completed online form before sending it to us. If you're unable to sign it, download a hard copy of the application form (PDF, 55kb) to complete and sign.

We advise that you read the guidance on the type of food activity (PDF, 15kb) before applying.

If you wish to sell alcohol or sell hot food after 11pm, you must apply for a licence under the Licensing Act 2003.

No registration will be refused, but you must fill out the form correctly. It's an offence to give information that you know is false

Once your business's completed registration form is received, we'll make contact to visit the premise.

The name and address of your business and the type of business will be included in a register which is open to the public.

Once your business is registered, notify us of a change of proprietor, if the nature of the business changes or if there's a change of address at which moveable premises are kept. The new proprietor will have to complete an application form.
