Advertising policy

As part of Southwark Council’s approach to reducing childhood obesity, the advertising of high fat, salt or sugar (HFSS) products in the borough has been banned on council-owned advertising sites. This builds on Transport for London’s junk food ban that was introduced in February 2019, across the whole TfL estate.

Southwark’s advertising policy (PDF, 202kb) also includes the UK’s Code of Broadcasting Advertising section on Prohibited Categories and alcoholic drinks, to further support the overall health and wellbeing of Southwark’s residents.

For more information on the policy or exemption process, contact publichealth@southwark.gov.uk.

You can apply for a product to be an exemption from Southwark Council’s Advertising policy here (PDF, 241kb).
