Identity verification for applicants who don’t have an Android device with near field communication

The public test phase, starting on 21 January 2019 is testing the application process for EU citizens and their families. Feedback about your experience will be used to make improvements to the process before the scheme fully launches to the public by March 2019.

If your mobile phone or other device doesn’t have near field communication (NFC) and you're eligible to apply for settled status during the test phase, you can make an appointment to bring your ID document to us, where it can be scanned and verified for you. The purpose of the scan is to confirm your identity so that you'll be able to make an application for settled status.

We will not need to keep your ID document and in most cases you will not be asked to send your passport anywhere else during your application for settled status.
