Southwark Council Cost of Living Fund
We have set up a new Cost of Living Fund for 2023 to 2024 to continue to provide financial support to low-income households at risk of hardship due to the higher cost of food, energy, and other essentials.
Southwark Council Energy Bill Support (spring 2023)
This spring we are making a one-off payment of £60 to eligible households to help with energy bills.
You’ll be eligible for a payment if:
- you were living in and liable for Council Tax for a property in Southwark on 1 April 2023
- the property is in council tax bands A, B, or C; and
- you were not receiving Council Tax Reduction on the 1 April 2023
If you are eligible, we will write to you with more information about how and when you will be paid. We expect to make all payments by the end of June.
Households receiving Council Tax Reduction are not eligible for this payment as they’re already getting extra support from the government and the council worth up to £325 this spring.
Holiday free school meals
If you have one or more children attending a Southwark school and they are eligible for free school meals, you will receive support equal to the value of a daily school meal during all the school holidays this year.
The support is worth £3 per day per eligible child and is usually delivered by schools. If you have a child who you think is eligible for this support but have not received it, please contact your child’s school
If you're experiencing a crisis now and need emergency support with food, energy, or other essentials you can apply to the Southwark Emergency Support Scheme (SESS).
