Deputy Cabinet Member for a Cleaner Southwark

Cllr Newens is responsible for overseeing the council’s innovative new schemes seeking to improve the ways we keep our borough clean.

This will focus on piloting new approaches to tackling graffiti, fly-tipping and general waste management in key areas of the borough, including specific town centres and estates. Specifically, Cllr Newens oversees the council’s Place Management Programme and will oversee and ensure that colleagues and ward Cllrs are regularly visiting key areas of the borough affected by waste management issues.

The Leader delegates formal decision-making requirements at a cabinet level to Cllr McAsh for the purpose of signing off cabinet reports and IDMs, although the deputy cabinet member will lead on development.
