Safety on School Trips

Two boys playing basketball in a school playground.School visits provide a valuable opportunity for pupils to encounter experiences that are not available to them in the classroom.

Visits can enable pupils to develop initiative, resourcefulness and independence. However, it is essential that all such visits are carried out with the highest regard for the safety and welfare of the pupils taking part.

Health and safety guidelines have been developed to provide helpful and practical advice to governing bodies, headteachers and teachers in the organisation of school visits.
