Here we detail our responsibilities towards ensuring the safety of our staff clints and pupils. We also provide guidance on your responsibilities to protect yourself, other staff, clientsand pupils in your care.

Childrens Services health and safety policy

Details the responsibilities we all have in  managing health and safety within Children's Services. Detailed information on what to do to fully comply with the policy and legislation is provided by guidance notes and other supporting documentation.

Children's Services emergency response plan

This section provides information on how to develop plans to manage a range of emergency situations that may arise, and contains contact details of where help can be obtained.

Health and safety of pupils/clients on external  visits

External visits are essential for the development of clients and pupils and provide a range of learning experiences that would be otherwise impossible. The guidance here should be followed whoever is organising the external visit, although not all procedures are necessary for all visits.We have a page of guidance for parents about safety on school trips, and the following for organisers.

Incident or accident reporting

It is important to report any incident, this includes aches and pains when working with computers, verbal abuse and threatening behaviour, as well as injuries or assaults that occur while working.
Any serious injury, or any incident where time is lost or when a member of the public or pupils/clients are taken from the site to hospital, should be reported to us by telephone on 020 7525 5035 as soon as possible.

Managers should then carry out an investigation into the causes of the incident, as outlined below.following this, please complete and return the appropriate form, keeping a copy for themselves.

These explain what must be done in order to meet the minimum requirements of legislation, the health and safety policy and accepted best practice

Thes help with the health and safety of specific school issues, although some may have awider audience.

These provide a framework that should be followed on each topic to ensure that nothing is missed

These forms ensure the recording of information in an approved format.

These outline simple measures that staff should take to prevent harm to themselves or others.
