CommunicationsCommunicating effectively with schools is important to children's services. In order to reduce the amount of paper being sent to schools and other educational settings most communications will be sent via the internet.
Contact details
Make sure your school receives all the right communications by logging in and keeping your details up-to-date on EduBase. This is a register of all educational establishments in England and Wales, maintained by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. It is the official source for school data, and is used by both the general public, the government and the council. Every school has a login and password for this site, so please ask your administrators or headteacher if you do not know it.
Learning Matters
Our main way of communicating regularly with headteachers is through Learning Matters, a fortnightly newsletter. It is distributed electronically during term time and will keep you informed of all the latest developments in education.
Emails to schools
We aim to limit the number of emails sent out to all schools. The assistant director of education must give approval before any emails are sent. Please contact children's services communications team if you are considering sending out an email to all schools. There is a webpage for posting correspondence to headteachers which you should use instead of email for all non-urgent matters.
