Walking to school and work

Walking to school

It's been proven that children who walk to school arrive more ready to learn, settling down to lessons quicker than those who travel by car or bus.

Encouraging children to walk to school is part of our aim to promote sustainable active travel. Part of this initiative includes the walk to school (WoW) campaign, which encourages parents, pupils and teachers to walk to school at least once a week. It was developed to promote walking on a regular basis throughout the school year.

Walk to school week

Walk to school week will be from 21 to 26 May 2018 and it's run by Living Streets. To make sure your children stays safe on their walk to school, follow the advice on the Sustran website.
