Electric cars

In 2009 Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, published the Electric Vehicle Delivery Plan for London with the aim of making London the electric vehicle capital of Europe.

The aspiration is to have:

  • 100,000 electric vehicles on the road as soon as possible
  • a network of publicly accessible charge points across London

The ultimate aim is for every Londoner to be within one mile of an EV charge point.

To support the Mayor's aspirations and to help fulfil the council's ambition for carbon reduction and improved air quality, Southwark are encouraging the use of electric vehicles by the introduction of, publically accessible, on street charging points.

There are already a number of on street charging points for electric cars in the borough. The table below lists those accessible to the public.
