Transfer to junior school

Please note, the deadline (15 January 2018) for submitting an on time transfer to junior application has now passed and you will not be able to apply online for your child’s transfer to junior school place.  If you have missed the deadline and have not yet applied for your child’s transfer to junior school place you can find further information on submitting a late application here and you must complete a paper transfer to junior application form (pdf, 55kb).

If your child currently attends an infant school and is due to transfer to junior school in September 2018, you must apply for your child's junior school place from 1 September 2017.

If you're a Southwark resident, you must apply online for a transfer to junior school place. If you live in another borough, you must complete the admission application for the borough in which you live even if you'd like to apply for a junior school in Southwark.

When applying for a junior school place you can express a preference for up to six schools whether they are in Southwark or in another borough. 

You must ensure that the online application is fully completed and that all details are entered correctly. Failure to tick certain boxes such as the sibling box or the social/medical box will mean that these criteria may not be identified when your application is being processed.

If you're providing additional information to support your application (eg a medical letter), make sure you upload this as an attachment with your online application or submit this by post to the School Admissions team before the closing date of 15 January 2018.

You must complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) if the school you've listed as one of your preferences requires it. You must pick up the SIF from the school, complete it and then return it to the school.

Where both the online application and the SIF are required, admission applications may be invalid or chances of a place reduced unless both the online application and the SIF have been completed, signed and received at the correct addresses by the closing dates. Please check the individual deadline date for returning the SIF with each school.

Submitting your online application

When you've completed your online application, you must submit it by the closing date of 15 January 2018 by 11.59pm. The online application will not be valid unless it is submitted by this time and date.

To submit your online application you must click on the ‘submit application’ button. Once you've submitted your online application, the system will show as 'submitted' with the date, time and version number of the submitted application.

You'll also receive an email with a unique application reference number confirming that your application has been submitted. If you don't receive an email, submit your application again as it will not have been submitted successfully.
