Elmington regeneration

Background to the regeneration

The cabinet approved in principle the continuation of regeneration for the Elmington estate in 2009.

The strategy had four strands:

  1. The selection of a registered social landlord to re-provide new homes on the two empty sites on either side of Edmund Street; Notting Hill Housing Group were selected to redevelop sites A and B, completed by the end of 2015.
  2. The completed refurbishmentment of Proctor House, Brisbane Street, Flatman House, Drayton and Langland house.
  3. The redevelopment of 4 sites are site C (Harris Street NHO) and sites D E G, low rise buildings and housing blocks at Benhill Road, Houseman Way, Elmington Road, Lomond Grove and Broome Way. 
  4. In July 2012, the council selected its development partners, Family Mosaic housing association and Bellway homes, to deliver 226 policy compliant dwellings (35% affordable by habitable room) across these 4 sites.

The council consulted extensively with residents through the Elmington resident steering group to implement a detailed programme for regeneration of the estate and consulted with residents on rehousing for those affected. 

The Elmington Resident Steering Group was disbanded in March 2013 due to lack of interest, as many of its key members had been rehoused. We've continued consultation through the two tenants and residents associations on the estate.
