Under the Traffic Management Act (2004) we must ensure road networks are managed effectively and safely. Planning for transport investment for walking, cycling and public transport infrastructure as well as managing space for servicing and waste collection is a crucial role of the council.
Approximately 80% of the roads in Southwark are managed by Southwark Council, with the remainder forming the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN). The council works closely with TfL, with a focus on creating healthy, accessible streets that support people to walk and cycle and allow access for essential services.
